Group UPV12

Universitat Politècnica de València

Underwater acoustics studies the propagation of elastic mechanical waves in the aquatic environment, their generation and reception, as well as their iteraction with the environment and its limits (the surface of the sea and the seabed and subsoil), and with the living beings that inhabit it.

The group develops projects related to:

-Development of active exploration techniques (echo sounders and sonars) of the water column and seabed, for the characterization and control of biomass behavior in fisheries or aquaculture, or the monitoring of sensitive ecosystems.

-Study of the propagation of underwater noise and passive systems for its monitoring, the environmental status of ecosystems and monitoring of species.

-Design, characterization and calibration of acoustic systems for underwater observation, communication and positioning.
