Educational guides: “Healing the Oceans with Culture”

In an effort to promote the care of seas and oceans, the UPV13 Group has officially launched the Educational Guides series “Healing the Oceans with Culture”, an innovative initiative specially designed for children and youth, combining environmental education with learning about marine art and cultural heritage. This project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aims to raise awareness within the community, particularly among children and youth, about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.

The series, like all initiatives by the UPV13 Group, is developed under two fundamental methodological pillars: accessibility and gamification. Accessibility ensures that anyone can understand and use the content, regardless of their prior knowledge or skills, and it is provided free of charge. Meanwhile, gamification introduces playful elements into educational interfaces, such as immersive and creative narratives, along with incentives that motivate active participation.

Through these strategies, the guides not only inform but also inspire action. They address the seven main risks studied in the project that oceans face, fostering appreciation and care for these vital resources for future generations. With this initiative, it is hoped that more people will become aware of the richness and fragility of the seas, promoting their conservation from a cultural and educational perspective.

The Educational Guides are now published with ISBN and available in a free and open-access digital format online through the official website of the UPV Editorial: https://monografias.editorial.upv.es/index.php/oa/index. Furthermore, they have been distributed to more than 3,000 educational centers in the Valencian Community.

With the series “Healing the Oceans through Culture”, the UPV13 Group invites the entire community to join a journey of learning and commitment to the preservation of our seas and oceans.
