The GeoEnvironmental Cartography and Remote Sensing Group (CGAT) is a multidisciplinary research group founded in 2000 within the Department of Cartographic Engineering, Geodesy and Photogrammetry at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). Our main interests lie in the development of geoinformation technology tools based on remote sensing, GIS, and LiDAR processing for territorial analysis and mapping, and their application in the study of the environment and natural resources in their broadest sense: forested, agricultural, urban, and coastal areas.

Our main lines of research focus on the following aspects:

  • Updating geographic databases on land use and land cover from high-resolution remote sensing images and LiDAR data using object-based classification techniques.
  • Analysis of forest structure and fuel mapping from point clouds (LiDAR, TLS, UAV, etc.).
  • Estimation and mapping of live fuel moisture content from remote sensing and meteorological data.
  • Monitoring of the coastline and coastal zones using remote sensing and point clouds.
  • Multitemporal analysis of urban fragmentation and relationships with socioeconomic variables
